At Waikato Driving School we strive to provide you with the highest quality driving lessons in New Zealand. From getting your Learners License to Defensive Driving, our Hamilton based school has you covered.

As we are run through the not-for-profit Waikato Ethnic Family Services Trust you can rest assured that we put the community first, and that means providing you with the skills and knowledge to be as safe on the road as possible. Waikato Ethnic Family Services Trust is offering a Community-Based Driving training.  We are well-prepared to provide Affordable Driving Lessons of various levels including Learners, Restricted, Full Licenses and Defensive Driving Courses (DDC) to ALL candidates. We are also prepared to assess and verify the safety and driving proficiency of employees for companies.

Our Services

We offer great theory sessions for those looking to pass their Learners License or do their Defensive Driving Course. While those looking for practical sessions can rest assured they will be completely safe in our dual controlled vehicles, with pick ups for lessons available!

Defensive Driving

Designed to increase your skills and capability as a driver, this course reduces the amount of time required on your Restricted License by up to 6 months

 We also offer social services, advocacy and support for families and individuals. We are proud of having successfully trained clients referred to us from various organisations including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Justice representing a very diverse range of backgrounds and needs. 

We believe in transparent and ongoing communication with case managers, schools and families. We also make sure to send a weekly progress report of each student to ensure you are aware of your student’s on-going driving achievements. 

Our passionate and experienced driving instructors are also driving assessor with backgrounds in psychology, health, counseling and adult teaching. Therefore, we are prepared to work alongside our students with a holistic approach to their individual needs for a successful driving journey. Our approach Includes building confidence, managing stress and improving decision making. 

For a beginner NZTA recommends 120 hours of driving practice to be prepared for the test. We appreciate the challenging nature of learning to drive, therefore we do a full assessment for our students at the very first point of contact to ensure the lesson plans is holistic and tailored to each student’s individual needs.
