RESTRICTED LICENSE

The second step towards being an independent driver

Passing your Restricted License test is your first stage of independent driving, once you have held your Learner License for six months you are eligible to sit your Restricted License test.

The Restricted License test is an hour long test designed to assess your ability to drive safely on the road. Consisting of a pre-drive vehicle check, practical assessment and post-drive feedback session with your assessor.

School students are also eligible for 4 NCEA level 2 credits if they pass their Restricted License test.

Key skills that you must feel confident in are:

  • Changing lanes at high speed in traffic
  • Driving to the speed limit
  • Parallel parking in no more than four movements
  • Performing a three point turn in under two minutes
  • Turning right at an intersection, crossing multiple lanes of incoming traffic

Through our practical sessions our instructor will teach you general road safety as well as how to perform these actions, or perhaps you are just looking for a quick refresher session before a test, either way we will ensure you go into your test with the highest chance of passing!
